Sackville Heights Junior High

February 29th, 2024

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for today is Love:
Love is a force that is undeniable. With love all things are possible. It is everyone’s right to have and experience it.

This is Week 1,  Today is Thursday, February 29th.

Administration Announcements.

1. We are a scent free school. Please stop wearing and bringing colognes and perfumes to school. We have a number of staff and students who are greatly affected by these scents. Students have had to come get their emergency puffers to stop asthma attacks, staff and students have had to leave the building as it has triggered a migraine. Please be respectful and make sure school is a place that they can come and learn and work without having to deal with scents.

2. Please respect our school resources. We purchase the expensive googles ($20) so that they are more comfortable for our students to particpate in racquet sports in Phys.ed. class. Do not damage them! 2-3 pairs have been broken on average each day. Also, return them and do not leave them on the floor to be scratched and damaged.

3. Please get to class promptly. There is not time built into the schedule for students to be roaming around visiting between classes. You can only be at your locker before or after Phys.Ed class. If you have forgot your water bottle, pencil etc. do better next time. Teachers are being asked not to permit students to leave for these items.
