Sackville Heights Junior High

November 24th, 2023

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for today is Respect:
In all life, respect is the first and foremost. Respect oneself and respect will be bestowed.

This is Week 2 Today is Friday, November 24th.

Please congratulate the female volleyball team on their win this past Wednesday! This win solidifies their 2nd place finish in regular season play!  On Monday they will battle AJ Smeltzer in the semi-finals, right here at SHJH, for a chance at the finals on Wednesday at Barrett. Feel free to show up to cheer them on!!!!

Art club is today during first and second lunch in the library. However, unfortunately, Ms Oldford is absent so the water-colour lesson will have to wait until next week. New members are always welcome.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the SHJH Pickleball Club.  If interested, please use the online link found on our athletics webpage.  Our first meeting will be Tuesday, Nov 28 from 2:50 - 4:15.  If you have any questions or want more information, feel free to reach out to Mr. Williams or Mr. DeMone.  Get ready to smash, volley, and have a great time at the SHJH Pickleball Club! We can't wait to see you there.
During games of basketball outside at breaks and lunchtimes, students are no longer allowed to set screens on other players. This means you cannot stand in the way and make contact with the defender guarding your teammate.
The first female/female identifying basketball tryout will be on Wednesday, November 28 from 3:00-4:15.  Please be sure you have signed up on the school website before that time

Happy Birthday to Reid Hickman in 8-1 from all your friends!

Have a Fabulous Friday SHJH!
