We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

This is week 1 , Today is Tuesday October 3rd

October is Mi'kmaw History Month. This year, we are celebrating sports and games as Mi'kmaw ways of knowing and being. They are important  for teaching how to hear, how to see, and how to move. Take a look at the posters around the school which illustrate some
games and sports.

Today will be the first try-out for the female/female identifying girls volleyball team. Due to the overwhelming response today will only be for grade 8s. Grades 6 & 7 will have their try-out on Thursday. Then next Tuesday there will be one more try-out for a shortened list that will be on the bulletin board outside the gym.

The third and final tryout for the male/male identifying volleyball team will be tomorrow Wednesday October 4th from 2:50-4:00pm.

The library will be in use this Wednesday & Thursday and next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. As this will result in many missed classes there is no way to accommodate alternative bookings. If a student needs to change or get a book on those days they will only be able to do so when they see the library unoccupied. It may also be a good time for them to make use of the hold feature. The drop off box will remain in place.

Attention Aladdin Junior cast members! There will be a meeting for everyone involved in last year’s production of Aladdin on Thursday during second lunch at 12 noon for ten minutes in Ms. Cochrane’s room (Room 103). With teachers’ permission, students not on second lunch can attend this short meeting. See Ms. Legge in the Learning Centre with any questions.

GSA is today during first and second lunch. First lunch GSA meeting will be in room 146 (Ms. Little's room) and second lunch GSA meeting will be in room 208 (Mr. Holley’s room). New members are welcome.
