Sackville Heights Junior High

September 26th, 2023

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.
We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for today is Wisdom
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom”.

This is Week Two.
Today is Tuesday, September 26th.

Did you know, in 2007, The Indian Residential Schools Settlement was created. This agreement was the largest legal group settlement in Canadian History. Part of this agreement was the creation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. This commision works to help facilitate reconciliation for former students, their families, communities, and all Canadians.
If you are a grade 8 student who is interested in becoming part of our leadership committee, please pick up an application ASAP from either Mrs Targett or Mrs Mercer.  Applications to be part of leadership are due in no later than end of day tomorrow, Wednesday, September 27th
