Sackville Heights Junior High

October 25th, 2023

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for today is truth:
if you cannot find it right where you are, where else do you expect to find it.

This is Week 2. Today is Wednesday, October 25th

Drama Club will be starting on Monday, November 6th from 2:45pm until 4pm in the cafeteria. This club will help cast our show for the Spring which will be an evening of dessert and theatre. Students are asked to sign-up outside of the Learning Centre. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Legge.

There will be a dance tomorrow night!  The dance is from 6:30 to 8:30.  The cost for the dance is 8 dollars however a food bank donation can get you in for only 6 dollars.  Students are permitted to wear a costume but are reminded that they cannot wear a mask, though they can wear face paint.  There will be a canteen as well so bring cash if you want to buy yourself a treat!

There is a very important leadership meeting today during second lunch in the Family Studies room.  Please bring your lunch and come on up!

For the information of students and staff, Ms. B is not in today.

There is male and male identifying volleyball practice after school until 4:00pm. If you cannot attend, please let coaches know.
There is also female/female identifying volleyball practice until 4:30.

Please look in lost and found for your lost items. The bin can be found in the grade 6 wing by stairs.  On Friday unclaimed items will be donated.

A reminder to students that one of our 3 school rules is,  keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself!! Teachers have noticed an increase in hands on behavior in the halls and classrooms. If this behavior continues students will be directed to the office!

A special shout-out to Zach Nurnber of 6-7, who represented the Falcons at the Nova Scotia School Cross Country Provincials in Cape Breton on Monday. Zach placed 48th overall out of 130 athletes in the Junior Boys race. Congratulations Zach!

Anime club will start this coming Monday, during second lunch in the family studies room.

Happy Birthday to Luca Langille in 8-8 from Drew, Makar, Aun, Blake and all your friends.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday SHJH!
