We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for June is Respect
“In the end we are all separate: our stories, no matter how similar, come to a fork and diverge. We are drawn to each other because of our similarities, but it is our differences we must learn to respect”.

Today is Thursday, June 22th.

Pride fact of the day: Did you know the Youth Project provides support to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth throughout Nova Scotia? Google Youth Project to get more information. They run various fun and supportive groups both online and in person.

Pride month celebrations will wrap up on Friday with a lunch time party for all GSA members. There will be a mini Pride Parade celebration, weather permitting, at 11:40am during the first lunch. GSA members who are part of second lunch Fruit Basket are encouraged to get teacher permission to join us at that time. Bring your flags!

All students are encouraged to wear bright or rainbow colours on Friday to show support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Due to the Friday celebration, regular GSA meetings this week are canceled.

Reminder to grade 6 and health teachers to complete the Pride Trivia before last block on Friday. Congratulations to MrJohnson’s class for being the first to submit their completed trivia form.

Today’s library return update is going to go same as yesterday. Teachers please take note and urge your students to return the missing books. I will give out the comprehensive lists this morning for emails home:
