During the month of February, for Black History Month, we will be playing “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. This hymn is known as the Black National Anthem. It celebrates black excellence and pride in Black communities.

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Black History Month
Each day this February we will be highlighting the contributions of Black people who made significant contributions to society and paved the way forward.
Today we look at this person.

At the age of 22, he became the first Black man to play in an NBA basketball game. He was inducted into the basketball Hall of fame in 2002. Earl Lloyd

Congratulations to the boys basketball team who defeated Leslie Thomas yesterday. The falcons were raining threes. Practice today afterschool.

Congratulations to our girls basketball team, winning their game against LT on Wednesday. Shout out to the team, they all played so well together.
