Sackville Heights Junior High

November 29th, 2023

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for today is Respect:
In all life, respect is the first and foremost. Respect oneself and respect will be bestowed.

This is Week 1. Today is Wednesday, November 29th.

The first female/female identifying basketball tryout will be on Wednesday, December 6 from 3:00-4:15.  Please be sure you have signed up on the school website before that time.  If you have any questions please see Ms.MacNeil.

The female volleyball team has their finals match today afterschool in our gym. When you see them in the halls, wish them luck and feel free to come support them at the game!
Ms. Fralick is also looking for two volunteers to come keep score at the match. If you are available and would like to do so, please drop in to see Ms. Fralick in the library some time today!

Ms Finn is here today but will then be off for the next three weeks. Ms Oldford will be open to seeing any SHJH students who are looking for counseling support starting Thursday and through to the start of the winter break. We will also have another counselor, named Ms MacDonald, who will see any students looking for support.
Ms. MacDonald (the counselor, not the math teacher), will be using Ms Finn’s office on Tuesdays and Fridays. To see a counselor just put a slip in as usual and either Ms Oldford or Ms MacDonald will follow up with you. Ms Finn will be back at the start of January.
