We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.
 

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Tomorrow is The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation), also known as Orange Shirt Day. It is a Canadian statutory holiday to recognize the legacy of the Canadian Indian residential school system. Today we all wear an orange shirt as a symbol which was inspired by the accounts of Phyllis Jack Webstad, whose personal clothing—including a new orange shirt—was taken from her during her first day of residential schooling, and never returned. The orange shirt is thus used as a symbol of the forced assimilation of Indigenous children that the residential school system enforced. Tomorrow, and always,  we reflect on these horrific acts and how we can be the voices of change going forward.

The cast of Aladdin is asked to check their email for an invite to the Aladdin Junior classroom. Please accept the invite. First read-through of the script will be on Monday from 3-4:15. This is only for performers not backstage crew.

The girls soccer team plays Monday at 3:30 at HTB and the boys soccer team plays at 4:40 at HTB

We will have our first meeting at 12 noon today in the library for about 10-15 minutes.Because of the great response we will be organizing another Mural project in the spring to involve some of the other students who signed up. Keep on creating.
