Sackville Heights Junior High

September 14th, 2022

We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”.

We also acknowledge that people of African ancestry have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years.

Our Sacred Teaching for today is Wisdom
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom”.

This is WEEK 2
Today is Wednesday, September 14

Did you hear? We are doing the musical Aladdin Jr. in April! We are still looking for a few people to play characters. We also need to know who is staying on for our magic carpet ride. We will be having a meeting on Thursday, September 15th at 11:20. These meetings will take place in room 103 only for those people who were signed up last year. Anyone interested who is new, can check the bulletin board outside 130 for audition and sign up details. If you have any questions, please see Ms Cochane or Ms. Legge.

Reminder to students that SHJH is scent aware - this means we understand that students/staff have scent allergies and we DO NOT wear scented products to school.

We are looking for some “Artsy” students who would like to help create a mural on the backside of our building with Mr. Carruthers and Mrs. Bruce-MacTavish with Halifax Regional Arts. Sign up will be in the main office.

Boys soccer tryouts are today after school from 2:50 to 4:15 on the back field.  Make sure you have signed up before attending. See Mr. Williams if you have any questions.

The girls second soccer tryout will be tomorrow after school from 2:45 to 3:45 on the back field.  Everyone who attended Tuesday’s tryout is invited back.  See Mr. DeMone if you have any questions.

There will be a meeting tomorrow after school in the cafeteria for any students who are interested in, or have signed up for Cross Country running this year. The meeting will be from 2:50 until 3:30.

There is a Lost and Found box located just at the entry to the grade 6 hallway. Please note, ALL unclaimed items will be DONATED at the end of each month.

Reminder to grade 7 and 8 students that you are not to be in the grade 6 hallway visiting other students or teachers.

Theme Day for Friday will be school colors! Come to school dressed in red and white!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday  SHJH!
